Coats of Arms were developed in the Middle Ages as a means of identifying warriors in battle and tournaments.  The Coat of Arms illustrated herein was drawn by an heraldic artist from information recorded in ancient heraldic archives.  The Lachance Coat of Arms hereby illustrated is officially documented in RIETSTAP'S ARMORIAL GENERAL.  The original description of the arms (shield) is as follows:

Les armoiries furent développées au moyen âge pour identifier les guerriers au combat et lors de compétitions.  L'armoirie démontrée ici a été dessinée par un artiste héraldique d'après les informations enregistrées aux archives héraldiques anciennes.  L'armoirie des Lachance est officiciellement documentée dans le "RIETSTAP'S ARMORIAL GENERAL".  La description d'origine de l'armoirie se lit comme suit:

"D'ARG. À DEUX ARBRES TERRASSES DE SIN.; AU CHEF D'AZUR, CH. D'UN SOLEIL D'OR."
